The Tao and Contributions of Eastern Philosophy to Happiness

Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter... and Spring No one is indifferent to the power of the four seasons and their annual cycle of birth, growth and decline. Not even the two monks who share solitude, on a lake surrounded by mountains. Just like the seasons, each aspect of their lives is introduced with an intensity that leads to both great spirituality and tragedy. They are also unable to escape the wheel of life, the desires, sufferings and passions that surround each of us. Through the watchful eyes of the old monk we see the young monk's experience of loss of innocence, his awakening to love when a woman enters his life, the lethal power of jealousy and obsession, the price of forgiveness, the clarification of experiences. Just as the seasons will continue to change until the end of time, in the indecision between the now and the eternal, solitude will always be a home for the spirit.

One Punch Man (2009) Saitama only became a hero for fun, but after three years of “special” training, he finds that he can beat even the mightiest opponents with a single punch. Though he faces new enemies every day, it turns out being devastatingly powerful is actually kind of a bore. Can a hero be too strong? One Punch Man is a manga primarily about the importance of kindness, no matter what else one is/does/becomes. Genos tries to learn from Saitama even after he realizes that his strength is unattainable, because he recognizes in Saitama a counterpoint to his own violence and hatred.

The Tao and Contributions of Eastern Philosophy to Happiness

The essense of happiness: wisdom from Eastern, African and Native American philosophies. Happiness is one of the most sought-after feelings. The elusive jewel that has captivated people’s desires and has for centuries fueled the quest for a long, happy and fulfilling existence. The term itself gets thrown around a lot in our daily lives, whether in conversations, self-help book covers or in media and cinema. But what is it exactly? Have we turned happiness into a cheap and trendy “item” to be bought or sold? Is happiness a fleeting burst of joy or a state of contentment? Does it reside in accomplishments, relationships, or perhaps in the simple act of taking a walk with a friend? This article explores various approaches to the concept of happiness and navigates through various philosophical, psychological and cultural sources of information and wisdom.

The Big Lebowski (1998) - Starz Jeff `The Dude' Leboswki is mistaken for Jeffrey Lebowski, who is The Big Lebowski. Which explains why he's roughed up and has his precious rug peed on. In search of recompense, The Dude tracks down his namesake, who offers him a job. His wife has been kidnapped and he needs a reliable bagman. Aided and hindered by his pals Walter Sobchak, a Vietnam vet, and Donny, master of stupidity. The concept of "Dudeism," a philosophy inspired by the film's main character, "The Dude," essentially boils down to a simplified version of Taoist principles like "going with the flow," accepting life's challenges with equanimity, and prioritizing simple pleasures over material pursuits, all encapsulated in the phrase "the Dude abides.".
